Stockholm leads in regional headquarters

Stockholm is now home to 48.8 percent of Scandinavia’s regional headquarters. International companies choose the Stockholm region as the location for their regional headquarters in the Nordic countries more often than Copenhagen, or the Öresund region, according to the Danish business newspaper, Borsen.

Stockholm has increased its position from 45,3 percent in 2009, to the current level of 48.8 percent in 2010, according to a report to be published in June 2010 from the Öresund Institute, a non-profit Danish-Swedish association founded to encourage integration within the Öresund region.

The study examines 11 industries from Forbes’ list of the world’s 2000 largest companies. Of these companies, 301 have Nordic offices, and 55 percent have Nordic headquarters.
